Year 3 Topic: Blue Planet

Welcome to the Year 3 page! This term, we will be learning all about the ocean. We will discover amazing sea animals, where they live, and why oceans are important for our world.

Amazing Animals That Live in the Water 🐠

Dolphins
Dolphins are animals called mammals, not fish. They breathe air through a hole on the top of their heads called a blowhole. Dolphins are very clever and use sounds like clicks and whistles to talk to each other.

Sea Turtles
Sea turtles live in the ocean but lay their eggs on sandy beaches. They can hold their breath for a long time when they are resting.

Sharks
Sharks do not have bones. Their bodies are made of a bendy material called cartilage. Some sharks need to keep swimming to help them breathe.

Octopus
Octopuses have eight arms and three hearts. They are very good at hiding and can change colour to match their surroundings. They do not have a backbone.
